Damon/Jackson all over again, only worse, because Damon, if I recall correctly, waved at the field as he was being taken off.

Matt just didn't move.

Oh no.

edit: Well, WEEI just said he was awake and alert the whole time, and the results of his CAT scan were negative. They're keeping him overnight and I guess will reevaluate in the morning. Doesn't sound great, but at least it doesn't sound like he has a broken neck or anything.

But reports are in that Matty's alert and knows what happened, so that's good.

NESN reports that Matt was awake and alert when they moved him and that he was aware of his surroundings and what had happened. So good news on that front.

Matt Clement got hit in the head by a line drive... he had no time to get out of the way. It hit him so hard that it knocked him right off his feet, and he collapsed in a heap on the mound. Didn't move for like 5 minutes. They had to put him on a stretcher, all strapped down with his neck in a brace, and take him to the hospital. Absolutely terrifying.

The news now is that his CT scans were negative and he's been alert and conscious the whole time, but it's still one of the worst things I've seen happen on the mound.

oh geez. that's really scary. i really like matty, too. he used to be a Padre. awesome guy. man, i hope everything is okay with him. *cringing at your description of what happened*

It sounds like he's OK... he was out of the hospital and with the team again today. It's almost insane that he's up and about that soon, but it must have hit him just right or something.

Hi. This is probably a bad post to use to introduce myself, but I just read two of your fics over at [info]sports_slash and I must be your friend.

Also: very glad that Clement is all right. I didn't see the game (and still haven't watched the replay) but from everything I've heard it was the scariest thing ever. As for the Damon/Jackson collision (which almost made me cry), I was heartened by his little wave on the stretcher until I read that he thought he was walking off the field after his last game for the A's.

I think most of them were pretty old 'cause I was skimming through for a particular story that I never found. Let's see. There was an A-Rod/Varitek fic that was disturbingly hot and an A-Rod/Jeter (the one about the July 24th tapes) and... I think there was another one but I can't remember. It was late. :D
